JAYO 3D filament ABS

Description

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) filament is a widely used material in 3D printing due to its strong mechanical properties and durability. Here are some of the key properties of ABS filament:

Strength and durability: ABS is a strong and impact-resistant material, making it resistant to impact and mechanical stress. This makes it suitable for functional parts and prototypes.

High Temperature Resistance: ABS can withstand higher temperatures than other commonly used filaments, such as PLA. It has a melting point of around 210-250°C and remains stable at temperatures up to about 100°C.

Flexibility: ABS has a certain degree of flexibility, making it less brittle than PLA. This helps protect it from cracking or breaking under load.

Moderate Shrinkage and Warping: ABS can shrink or warp during cooling, especially if not printed properly in a sealed or heated print bed. This can lead to warping of printed parts.

Chemical resistance: ABS is resistant to various chemicals, such as oil and grease, making it suitable for industrial applications.

Finishing and post-processing: ABS can be easily sanded, drilled and bonded. It can also be processed with acetone to get a smooth, glossy surface.

Moderate odors: During printing, ABS may emit an unpleasant odor due to the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It is therefore recommended to work in a well-ventilated area.

Recycling: ABS is recyclable, although it is not biodegradable like PLA.

In summary, ABS filament is ideal for sturdy, durable prints that need to withstand higher temperatures and abrasion, but requires careful printing considerations (such as a heated print bed) to avoid warping.
